Tonight's bedtime story is "The Golden Branch," by Madame d’Aulnoy, as found in The Red Fairy Book, edited by Andrew Lang. It's got a kind but ugly prince, a good but ugly princess, a couple kings (their dads) that are jerks, a fairy and her love that help the betrothed, magic, an evil enchanter and fairy that everyone will feel good to hate, and a happy ending with just the right dose of the moral lesson that love wins when love is good. I really enjoyed narrating this bedtime story, and I hope you enjoy listening to it. And I hope you feel like I'm there, reading it to you. I did minimum edits, and kept most of the imperfections to keep the reading as authentic as possible. And I hope those little foibles add to the experience, rather than detract =D. Let me know if you like it, and if you have any requests for future bedtime stories. Enjoy! Content warning (violence): although this is a SFW Bedtime Story, please note that, as this is an older fairytale, there are a couple scenes that contain depictions or mentions of violence.
