Tonight is the debut of my solo show and my nerves are in high gear again. Last time, you were able to make my make-up table a safe space, giving me some pretty spectacular memories to think about when I look in the mirror, rather than my impending made-up calamities on-stage. But now we're looking at the stage itself, huge, ominous, empty, just waiting for me to fall flat on my face. The audience will be watching me, and the more I think about that, the more nervous I get. So you decide to make the stage area, or specifically the front row of seats in the audience, a safe space the same way you did with my make-up table. They always say to picture the audience in their underwear when you're nervous during a performance, and now you've given me something much better to picture instead...
