something funny happened: at some point in the mid 90s i bought a Vox wah pedal but there was something wrong with the potentiometer and it was really crackly! probably just some dust but i never tried to clean it and i just put it into storage... for more than 25 years! i kept moving it every time i changed apartments, but i never used it. not once! but since i had started putting the digital wah effect on my guitar for this jam, i decided to try cleaning it out and seeing what would happen. well, after a little rinse in some 90% isopropyl and a nice heat gun blast, followed by a lengthy evaporation period, it sounded just fine! happy, i got one guitar track recorded using it, and went to bed. a couple of days later, no luck! i had left it plugged in, and when the battery died it must have taken out part of the circuit. i tried two different batteries, with no luck. then i noticed it also accepted a DC input, so I dug out an old DC adapter that matched, and it still wouldn't work. then i thought maybe having the battery plugged in is over-riding the DC. yup!! that did the trick. so, i was able to get a 2nd guitar track down, one octave up, both using the same Vox wah pedal! the mixdown was now done with no digital effects, same bass & drum tracks as last time.
