Carly has been receiving tutoring sessions by a friend recently graduated from her high school, a studious young black man named Richard, to help her prepare for her college entrance exams.  She's making such great progress with him, that when her mother Allison realises she can no longer afford to pay Richard for his tutoring sessions, she does the one thing a devoted mother can do in order to secure a bright future for her only child.  She offers the young man some more "personal" payment arrangements.
